Geoffrey Hats

Last August, A Second Chance approached Kelly about fostering a pup named Geoffrey. Geoffrey was originally adopted from ASC as a puppy and had just recently been dumped at Animal Care and Control when his family moved. He was 4.
On August 23rd Kelly took Geoffrey in as a foster, housing him at a local boarding facility as he is a dominant male who prefers to be king of his castle and Kelly already has 5 dogs of her own. Geoffrey is a one of a kind dog, a lover, a charmer and just a general amazing boy. He was adopted in November only to be returned a week later as the family was a first time dog family and they ended up being allergic to him.
Then in February he went home as a foster to a veteran who was in love with him but was then returned when the army Vet’s mom fell ill and he had to return to New Jersey. Then mid- August this year he was adopted by an amazing family with two boys who were over the moon to bring him home. A day later they realized they were all allergic (also first time pet owners) and Geoffrey was back.
Three days shy of his one year anniversary of being Kelly’s foster Geoffrey went to another foster to adopt family. All is good at the moment but we are giving Geoffrey time to settle in with their older resident dog to see if they can get along. Fingers crossed this will finally be his forever home.
While Geoffrey’s story is sad, he was so very lucky to be afforded a whole year to find a home. Many dogs in other situations would not have had that chance, which has inspired Kelly to launch the Geoffrey Scholarship to fund stays at Camp Rusty for other pups like Geoffrey who just need time.
